Headstones in Prescott-Russell: Hawkesbury, Rockland, Casselman & Embrun
Eastern Ontario's francophone heartland. French and bilingual inscriptions, parish cemeteries, Ontario rules and factory-direct granite.

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell — Hawkesbury, Clarence-Rockland, Casselman, Embrun, Russell and L'Orignal — are one of Ontario's most francophone regions. Catholic parish cemeteries sit at the heart of many villages.
How Ontario regulates cemeteries
In Ontario, cemeteries operate under the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002, administered by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO). A few practical consequences for families:
- Every cemetery has by-laws. They cover memorial sizes, materials, foundations and installation, and the cemetery must make them available to you. Ask for them before you choose a design.
- You can buy from an independent supplier. Families may buy a monument from the cemetery or from an independent retailer or manufacturer; either way, it has to meet the cemetery's by-laws.
- Care and maintenance contributions. Ontario cemeteries collect a regulated contribution to their care and maintenance fund when larger markers and monuments are installed. Ask for the amount in writing alongside foundation and installation fees.
Our cemetery headstone rules guide has a checklist of questions to bring.
French and bilingual inscriptions
Many families here choose French or a bilingual layout. Decide which language leads, keep accents (é, è, ê, à, ç) exact on the proof, and consider classic lines such as "À la douce mémoire de", "Repose en paix" or "Toujours dans nos cœurs". See our French inscriptions guide.
Parish cemeteries
Many cemeteries here belong to Catholic parishes. Ask the parish office for its rules on monument size, foundations and religious symbols, and whether a crucifix, the Virgin Mary or a sacred heart is customary. See Catholic headstone symbols.
Ottawa-area families
Many families live in Ottawa or Gatineau and bury loved ones in their home parish. We deliver to both sides of the river — see our Gatineau guide.
