Headstone Ideas for a Skateboarder

Skateboarding is creative, fearless and built on friendship. Many skaters are young, and their friends want the memorial to feel like them — not like a traditional stone.

Symbol and etching ideas

• A skateboard — or the stone cut in a deck shape; see custom-shaped headstones.
• Their own deck graphics, etched.
• A skate park bowl or ramp.
• A skater mid-trick, from a photo.
• Wheels and trucks as a border.

Personal touches

• Their nickname in the crew.
• Their home park.
• Signatures of friends on the back.
• A QR code linking to skate videos — see QR code headstones.

Epitaph ideas

• Keep rolling.
• Skate in peace.
• Forever riding.
• Land it in heaven.
• Live to ride.

Tributes at the park

Skate communities often hold a memorial session, paint a mural or dedicate a ledge or bench at the park. Friends may leave a deck signed by the crew at the grave.

Design tips

• Bold graphics suit black granite.
• Ask friends for photos and deck designs.
• Check cemetery rules on custom shapes.
• See headstone wording for a teenager and for a young adult.

Choosing the main emblem

Ask their closest friends which image feels most like them. A board they designed, their signature trick or the park they skated every day often means more than a generic skateboard.

Key Takeaways

• Skateboards and parks capture the passion.
• Their own deck art is deeply personal.
• Friends' signatures and videos add meaning.
• "Keep rolling" is a fitting epitaph.
